A singularly tall landmark stretching upwards from the flat residential sprawl of Kuala Lumpur’s upmarket Bangsar enclave, Alila appears to have made a right bet on location with their first entry into Malaysia.
A hotel raised a distance from the downtown heart, the FnB options here are all well conceived, with hearty Asian cuisine at Botanica + Co, spirited cocktails at Pacific Standard Bar and delightful modern French cuisine at Entier all making waves within the local gourmet circles.
Thoughtful service here is delivered with airless charm, evoking a simpler time where service is believably sincere. Complimentary snacks and beverages are served communally on each floor with more substantial options over the morning hours.
The design diction here is pluralistic, with heavy wood accents inducing a resort air and stark furnishings denoting minimalism. The result is not incongruous, and with views so fetching, the decorative framework seems secondary. Views here are dripping abundantly, and offer an alternative, residential face for Kuala Lumpur.
