Sofitel Damansara
Kuala Lumpur
Augmenting the rise of Kuala Lumpur’s new wave of luxury hotels is Sofitel Damansara’s opening in 2018. The location, dubbed the ‘Golden Triangle of Petaling Jaya’, is however on the rise, and there are commercial jungles and residential enclaves to cater to.
The most fetching aspect of this hotel is its FnB operations comprising Chinese, Mediterranean and casual dining where the cuisines are delectable and the service is grand. Nizza dishes out wonderful Mediterranean flavours while Wan Chun Ting offers impressive Cantonese cuisine. The Hammam ritual at So Spa is one of the city's most luxuriously sensuous treat.
While most of the staff do their best to try to exceed guest expectations, there will still be a handful of negative Nancys out to spoil the soup. The executive lounge here is however, particularly well run.
A sea of beige, brown and boring makes this one of the least visually enticing Sofitel properties in Asia but all nonetheless all the necessary buttons on comfort and coziness are ticked. Perhaps owing to its location that probably caters to the corporate crowd, the property's design sensibilities are more classically attuned.
