Belmond La Residence
d'Angkor Siem Reap
A charming resort raised along the classical lines of local architecture, this petite oasis set in the heart of Siem Reap is a peaceful and elegant establishment imbued in Khmer hospitality.
Spice Circle serves an inspired buffet breakfast that incorporates the best of east and west. Ember takes dining up a notch by infusing Latin influences into Asian fares, which in our opinion might require the newly appointed chef to spend a few more years in Asia to master the subtlety of its cuisine. The Kong Kea Spa is a refreshingly contemporary space installed with an indoor relaxation lap pool for after treatment quietude.
Belmond level of sterling service is generally maintained with finesse in details, like the iron branded coconut proffered complimentarily over transfers. More care however, needs to be instilled in housekeeping and other back-end staff to exercise thoughtful regards while executing their duties.
A beautiful property that effuses ethnic charms along classical lines, wood and sandstone are abundantly employed to their advantage to convey a warm and earthy ambience. The low-rise wooden buildings are well integrated with the lush gardens and a central lap pool shimmering like a luscious jewel is the resort's most inviting feature.
