On the bewitching oceanic vista alone one can dedicate an entire chapter but that would be a disservice to one of Bali's most enticing resort which for years have been setting the gold standard with its stylish design, impeccable service and alluring air that is an intoxicating melange of  natural hues and cultural refinements. The most comely attraction of this property is its stately 3-bedroom villa, which is simply a bewitching portal to an ethereal existence.

One-time the most stunning resort of Bali and quite possibly the world, Sayan is still captivating, especially post renovations. The service orientation has however taken a few steps back, and you leave feeling like the extended family that has welcomed you and bid farewell to you over an entire decade is on a leave of absence. What is left, is essentially overt politeness and a mirage of a grand past.

This resort is one of Bali's best kept secret, nestled regally in a verdant valley of Ubud pointed towards dramatic views. The villas may be a tad oldish and unsophisticated but that suits the primordial milieu exceedingly. The restaurant here is also a grand surprise - the food is unpretentious and absolutely delicious. One can dine here for a week and still crave for more!

A modish resort is always a welcome respite from the cultural conceptions that have long flooded the island of the gods. To date there are many that have taken root and they too are appearing conceptionally tired. Thankfully the newish Indigo Bali has struck the old-new balance with aplomb, being an abode of refreshing new accents that still exudes the calm and comfort of an island resort. The plush villas with private pools are very worth a check-in, to say the least.

The Apurva Kempinski

This Kempinski property is a behemoth resort replete with ballrooms, club lounges, no less than 3 pools, an 'underwater' restaurant and a chapel, in short a one-stop address in Bali fully equipped for your conventions and conventional holiday needs. The rooms are luxuriously decked though, as one can expect from a Kempinski hotel, and we highly recommend the pool junior suite on a high floor.

The Alila Ubud has been enchanting visitors for years even before its current incarnation and happily its many charms have survived its  transitions. The comely villas here augments a rural existence with rustic essence and ethereal vibes and its singular pool has been featured in uncountable social media posts. The elements of this resort still harkens to simpler, happier times that urbanites are only too glad to escape to.

A hip right-off-the-street boutique establishment that is pushing the envelope on the evolution of forms and functions on the Balinese hospitality terrain, The Slow features rooms that are spacious and modish and a pub that everyone is happy to congregate at, but little else. Sometimes the crowd settles at the rooftop with a movie screening but this inhabitant was a lot happier within the comfortable and private confines of its pool suite where breakfast was sumptuously served.
